Digital Preservation Policy
Kapitari is committed to the long-term preservation, integrity, accessibility, and availability of its academic and scientific output. In line with the principles of open access and editorial sustainability, the journal implements strategies aimed at ensuring that published content remains accessible and retrievable even in the face of potential technical failures, technological changes, or operational disruptions.
To this end, Kapitari adopts the following digital preservation strategies:
- Persistent Identifiers (DOI)
Kapitari assigns a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to each published article, managed through Crossref.
The DOI guarantees:
- The unique and permanent identification of articles.
- The stability of links over the long term.
- The correct citation, tracking, and retrieval of content in academic environments and indexing systems.
- OJS Publishing Platform
The journal is managed and published using Open Journal Systems (OJS), an open-source platform widely used in international scientific publishing.
The use of OJS contributes to digital preservation through:
- Standardized metadata structuring.
- Versioning and editorial control of content.
- Interoperability with indexing systems, aggregators, and repositories.
- Institutional Backup and Storage Systems
The content published in Kapitari is subject to periodic backups, managed institutionally by the Editorial Center for Research in Education, Nature, Culture and Innovation for the Amazon – CIENCIA S.A.S.
These backups include:
- Article files.
- Editorial metadata.
- Structural information of published issues.
The backups aim to reduce the risk of data loss due to technical failures or unforeseen incidents.
- Indexing, Repositories, and Academic Aggregators
As part of its preservation and visibility strategy, Kapitari promotes the distribution of its content in academic databases, indexes, directories, and repositories, which contributes to the redundancy and preservation of published knowledge.
Presence on multiple platforms increases the digital resilience of the content and its long-term availability.
5. Authorized Self-Archiving
Kapitari authorizes the self-archiving of published articles in institutional and thematic repositories and academic platforms, provided that the original source is properly acknowledged.
This policy strengthens the distributed preservation of content and its continued availability within the digital academic ecosystem.
- Review and Continuous Improvement
Kapitari's digital preservation policy will be reviewed and updated periodically, based on:
- The evolution of best editorial practices.
- The requirements of indexing and evaluation systems.
- The technical capabilities of the publisher CIENCIA S.A.S.
